The 2018 A5 2.0T is equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and the S5 uses a conventional eight-speed automatic.I would enjoy the choice of manual and many of you might as well, but not enough people buy it when Audi offers it, so they no longer make financial sense.Once you overcome that mental hurdle, both transmissions are a great example of a self-shifter.Surprisingly, the shift from the eight-speed auto S5 does not seem slower or less aggressive than the A5 double clutch.Both are responsive, and feature paddle shifter and sport mode.
Like every generation, the Audi all-wheel-drive system is better than ever.A5 and S5 will not go wrong for rear-wheel drive-if that’s the case, they will not feel like Audis.Electric power has also gone a step, feeling faster and more precise.It’s certainly not full of feedback, but certainly as good as its contemporaries of BMW and Mercedes.Variable assist and steering rack ratios are adjusted with the Audi Drive Select system, along with active damping, throttle mapping, and engine sound.
While the driving experience is solid, what really sets A5 and S5 apart from the competition is the Cockpit virtual instrument cluster.Getting behind a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit is like stepping into a car from the next few years.The configurable screen allows you to stare at a conventional needle on a face large enough to fill the screen or the driver can shrink it, using space for other information including a beautiful navigation map.

Some of you might mentally spur S5 2018 against BMW M4 and Mercedes-AMG C63 coupe, but do not.This is the S5 and although Audi has not announced RS 5 plan, you can bet one will come.The natural competitor in performance and price is the BMW 440i with the Mercedes-AMG C43 coupe sports package.It is difficult to make judgments between the three cars without driving on the same road on the same day.Even so, it is at least possible to say Audi feels the highest technology of the group and has the right meat performance.
Premium category of sports coupe has never run out.A5 and S5 can melt away in the Autobahn, tearing winding roads and even transporting families on certain occasions.More importantly, however, they are private cars designed to please the driver every day in every way.Cars like 2018 A5 and 2018 S5 do not make you wait for weekend drives or track a day to be entertained behind the wheel;It’s about the whole experience every day.
