Most of the rumors show the Honda HRV 2018 update will give the car a large mid-life facelift although not long later the new model can be removed.

Because the HR-V arrives for the 2015 model year, a small crossover may be refreshed for the 2018 or 2019 model year, with active safety technology available on higher trim and lightweight facelift. We will update this space as soon as we have official info.

Power for now, 2017 HR-V comes from a 1.8-liter I-4 rated 121 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque. The engine is powered by a six-speed manual in front-drive or CVT form in front of or all wheels. Three trims are available including LX, EX, and EX-L-Navi. Top-spec models include leather seating, navigation, and standard paddle shifter.

Active standard security technologies include multi-angle viewer cameras, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and daylight streetlight. Honda LaneWatch, rear camera mounted on the side passenger’s rearview mirror, included on EX and EX-L-Navi.

The second generation was launched two years ago, so if you are expecting some major updates, we should disappoint you. There will be no revolutionary this time. But if you are realistic, you will realize that it is impossible to expect a major overhaul. The second generation is still fresh and, in addition to the light refreshment, Honda will not significantly change the last version of HR-V. Technology updates are always welcome and interior modifications in general. When it gets to the outside, it is possible that the front fascia will change slightly, while the back will remain the same.

Powertrain is the easiest part of writing. 2018 Honda HR-V will follow the previous model and will have the exact same line. This means there are two different machines in the offer, but the customer has no possibility to choose. The fact is that one machine will be offered to the American market and the other will be to Europe. Honda often does things like that so it’s not surprising that there are different power units for different markets.

One 1.8-liter inline will be offered to US customers. This engine produces 150 hp power and 140 lb-ft of torque. It remains the same as last year, without a single modification. The transmission system is still optional. New HR-V mated either with CVT or to a six-speed manual gearbox.

This European variant is expected to be less powerful. A 1.5 liter inline delivers 120 hp and 115 lb-ft of torque. The only available transmission is manual. In addition to these figures, the fuel economy of both units remains unchanged. Both of these machines come with an optional drive system. Each customer has a choice between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

UPDATE: This ongoing model offers a 1.8 liter naturally aspirated inline four engine that is good for 141 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. Although this is enough, it can not match some of its competitors. The upcoming 2018 update is actually expected to boast one of Honda’s new turbocharged engines.

Their four-1.5 turbo is known to produce 190 horsepower which easily enables HRV to become one of the fastest cars in its class. The six-speed manual is likely to remain while the CVT can receive small tweaks to offer fewer controls over gear changes.

Is the Hybrid a Worthy Option?

Many rumors suggest that the future of Honda HR8-2018 will be offered in hybrid form. Although not possible at this time, this is a close sibling, Vezel, available with a hybrid powertrain that incorporates a 1.5 liter naturally naturally aspirated engine with an electric powertrain. Offering an average of more than 40 MPG, this machine will be a great addition to the US market.

Exterior and Trim Levels

2018 Honda HR-V comes in three trim levels: LX, EX, and EX-L. Each single trim has a variety of colors, such as crystal black pearl, red Milano, foggy green pearl, alabaster silver metal, etc. Although the exterior color palette is very large, the cabin there are only four colors. It was something Honda could do in the future. Height, length, and width are the same as before and also the 17-inch wheelbase. Maybe the front fascia will face some minor updates, but the backside should not get any refreshes.

UPDATE: Most of the rumors show at this time the Honda HRV 2018 update will come with some exterior changes. The new bumper is more than possible in the work as well as the new front grille. This will allow the car to bring the design closer to the CRV. The back can also receive new inserts for tail lights and possibly a larger roof spoiler. Wheels can also be revised to give the car a more muscular design.

Inside the cabin, HRV is expected to get a better infotainment system as well as a slightly better material. Driving position and passenger space will not change much. However, most seem to think the car will get a better build quality that could actually happen.

Unfortunately, the interior is not present in vivid colors. There are only gray and black versions. Five people can fit inside the cabin and there is enough space for all of them. Interior changes in terms of styling are not expected. The seats are very comfortable and they are wrapped in leather. However, the technology could be updated.

2018 Honda HR-V Release Date and Price

The expected price of the Honda HR-V 2018 will not change. It will remain at the same level as the current model. This means you will be able to get this model for $ 20,000 if you live in the US, or even cheaper if you are from Europe. In any way, the new HR-V is quite affordable, even for those with tight budgets. The only catch is not going to hit the market soon. The best prediction tells us that it should be released in 2018.
